Kingsly & Cotton

Originally drawn in 2009, Peggs’ overall DNA was based upon monospaced typewriter fonts. Upon inspection we noticed that when printed, some of these earlier types gained unintended characteristics via the crass print processes they were subjected to (think under-, and over-inking). We took these unintentional moments and utilised them as characteristics — through the strokes that don’t quite join up and the pooling of colour in certain connections.

Initially created in a singular bold weight for the identity of Peggs & son., a retail fashion shop in Brighton, UK, we have now revisited the design, fully redrawing the forms, respacing and extending into a multi-weight family, with extensive OpenType features.
