RRRR

Relative is a type family of two halves — a proportional set of weights from Book to Black (including Italics), and fixed-width pitched versions that are abridged by a ‘faux’ monospace cut.

This ‘Faux’ cut takes the restrictions of a monospace typeface, and subverts them into aesthetic traits (notably, see the ‘i’ and ‘l’), allowing the typeface to be spaced proportionally and retain some of the sensibility of its fixed-width cousins.

Relative is available in 4 weights and 12 styles — Book, Medium, Bold and Black (with corresponding Italics), as well as pitched monospaced variants in 10, 11 and 12 Pitch, and lastly a Faux variant.

It is available to license in both Standard (‘STD’) and Professional (‘PRO’) versions, the latter contains Cyrillic and Greek scripts, OpenType features and stylistic alternates.

The first measurement of this relativistic effect was made by British astronomers in 1919. They used the fact that light deflection changes astronomical observations. The “location of a star in the night sky” is simply short-hand for “the direction from which that star’s light reaches us”.
